The Management Essentials 2025 program is a flagship learning initiative of MILVEST, designed exclusively for members of the Armed Forces community and their families. This online-live program in Business Administration, jointly certified by MILVEST and the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, was conducted from January to October 2025, delivering a rigorous, contemporary and industry-aligned management education experience.
Management Education by IIM Shillong Faculty
The program comprised 67 live online sessions, delivered by the distinguished faculty of IIM Shillong, amounting to 100 hours of structured instruction. The curriculum was thoughtfully designed across nine core modules covering the essential domains of Business Administration:
Applied Coursework and Experiential Learning at MILVEST
In addition, participants completed a minimum of 50 hours of applied coursework designed by MILVEST. This included post-session quizzes, structured assignments and hands-on tasks focused on real-world business problem-solving, reinforcing conceptual learning through practical application.
Advanced Digital Collaboration, Remote Team Leadership, and Quality Governance
A defining feature of Management Essentials 2025 was its strong emphasis on remote team leadership, digital coordination, structured oversight and quality assurance in virtual environments. Upon completion of the academic phase in October, all participants were organized into 20 cross-functional teams, supported by a clearly defined leadership and control framework. Each team was led by a Team Leader, responsible for coordinating geographically dispersed members, driving task completion and ensuring adherence to defined timelines and deliverables. Control Members provided supervisory oversight, with each Control Member responsible for four Team Leaders, thereby ensuring consistency, governance and quality of outputs across multiple teams.
Teams were assigned outcome-driven tasks that required participants to:
This phase significantly strengthened participants’ capabilities in virtual leadership, multi-team coordination, digital data management, real-time collaboration, quality governance, accountability and structured execution, closely mirroring modern corporate operating and delivery models.
A Diverse and Inclusive Cohort
Management Essentials 2025 brought together a cohort of over 560 participants representing exceptional diversity:
Participants represented the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, spanning the length and breadth of India. The cohort ranged from a 60-year-old Vande Veer Naari to a 21-year-old final-year graduate, including C-suite leaders, transitioning military professionals, freshers, and job-seekers.
Core Values and Impact
Anchored in MILVEST’s guiding philosophy of Co-operation, Collaboration and Co-Creation (3Cs), the program fostered inclusivity, peer learning and community building. It served as a transformative journey, equipping participants with managerial acumen, digital confidence and leadership readiness aligned with contemporary corporate and entrepreneurial environments.
Origin and Legacy
Conceptualized under Project Deepak, and sponsored by Sambhav Kadam Foundation, Management Essentials 2025 reflects the continued commitment of MILVEST and Sambhav Kadam Foundation to develop and grow an empowering Armed Forces Community ecosystem. Delivered jointly by MILVEST and IIM Shillong, the program stands as a testament to collective effort, inclusivity, innovation, and lifelong learning.
and the Way Forward…
As a way forward, MILVET-2026 programs lay increasing emphasis for all military families towards their Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning enablement, keeping in step with Global skills-in-demand; alongside the doing-it approach (rather than merely learning with reflective learning), and performing together in remote teams ‘all-together’, to build an empowered community of military learners.
